Dating, courtship, and marriage can be confusing matters, can’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to know that the decisions you are making in these areas are based on real truth? That the perspective you hold onto is grounded in reality?
But what, in today’s world, can be a relied upon as source of truth? Friends? Family? The media? History? The Internet?
In order to discover truth for our lives, we must begin by committing ourselves to something that we can rely upon for providing a foundation of truth. Only the Bible can be trusted to provide us with real truth. Thus, we end up with a biblical worldview, a perspective that is based on the Bible—on God’s truth.
A biblical worldview is grounded in a commitment to knowing and understanding the Bible. It is a commitment to ascertaining truth for our lives and applying that truth to the everyday situations we encounter.
Unlike the Bible, however, “the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight” (1 Corinthians 3:19). And unfortunately, many Christians live their lives based on the deceptive philosophies of this world. Although they are saved, their lives are filled with the consequences of ignorance and foolishness.
If something feels right but God’s Word says it is wrong, we have to go with Bible. For example, it might seem to make sense to have sex before marriage or to marry an unbeliever. But the Bible clearly states that these things are wrong, so Christ’s followers should not even think about doing them.
If we want to experience God’s best in life and marriage, we must first make sure that our core convictions are consistent with the truth He has revealed to us in the Bible. Believers must use the Bible as the ultimate authority for daily living and be committed to renewing their minds with biblical truth.
