Watching my Mother kneel at her bedside every night before bed, was a constant reminder of how blessed I was. My Dad was quiet in his faith, but I knew he trusted God, as they both did day by day through all the ups and downs they encountered.
My parents had a deep love and respect for one another. They never went to bed angry because the spirit of forgiveness was always in their hearts and their relationship.
Because of what I saw in my parent’s relationship, I knew that was what I wanted for myself – a mate who loved God and walked in His ways.
My brother and I often share what a good family life we had, and because of their example, we had a good grounding regarding what we looked for in a mate.
Because marriage is a major step in the life of any individual, one needs to look further than the physical attraction. One needs to look at their expectations as compared to yours; their purpose in life, their character, their expectations in marriage, and most of all, their spiritual views and belief system.
